Our Quadbike-based (aka All Terrain Vehicle (ATV)) semi-autonomous mobile robot is similar to our Scotty robot. However can provide more
heavy duty purposes such as proof of concepts for autonomous personal
transport vehicle, autonomous mapping, or getting equipment to required areas without the need for a driver!
The semi-autonomous behaviour is based on using a tightly coupled GPS and IMU for localisation, to allow for GPS waypoint based navigation within a user defined map.
Ad-hoc custom solutions have been used to control the steering (via large maxon motor + gearbox + encoder + pneumatic disc break) and throttle (via RC servo).
