At COLETEK, we bring decades of hands-on experience delivering real-world artificial intelligence and computer vision systems. Whether you're located forHobart or anywhere globally, our AI solutions are designed for embedded, edge, and industrial deployment.
Our CTO, Luke Cole, began engineering AI and robotics as a teenager in 1998. He worked at leading institutes such as CSIRO, NICTA (now Data61), Seeing Machines, and ANU Robotics System Lab, contributing to early self-driving cars, custom AI libraries, and mobile robot autonomy before ROS and OpenCV were even invented.
Luke also worked at Hemisphere GPS (formerly BEELINE, now AgJunction) as a Robotics Engineer, implementing GPS-guided autonomous systems used by hundreds of agricultural vehicles worldwide.
Meanwhile, Lance Cole has worked in advanced military-grade embedded systems, including on the US military's CROWS program at EOS. He brings deep experience in electronics and embedded hardware for AI.
Our team specialises in applied (narrow) AI, particularly in embedded vision, robotics, and real-time decision-making. We’ve built AI systems using:
We’ve deployed AI models on cost-effective platforms like the Raspberry Pi, and optimized high-performance systems using NVIDIA Jetson (Nano, Xavier, TX1) and NVIDIA Tesla V100 GPUs. Our team understands both the constraints of edge devices and the throughput of datacenter-grade accelerators.
Applications of our AI & Machine Learning Services for Hobart services include:
If you're based in forHobart or anywhere globally and need help with robotics, machine vision, or embedded AI, we’d love to hear from you. We speak your language, whether it’s TensorFlow code, NVIDIA CUDA pipelines, or low-level embedded C on ARM systems.

Hobart is the capital and most populous city of Tasmania. Founded in 1803 as a penal colony, Hobart is Australia's second oldest capital city after Sydney. In 2006, the city had a greater area population of approximately 205,566.
The city is the financial and administrative heart of Tasmania, and also serves as the home port for both Australian and French Antarctic operations.
The city is located in the state's south-east on the estuary of the Derwent River. The skyline is dominated by Mount Wellington at 1,271 metres high.
We engaged COLETEK to conduct a series of research projects on robotics and we very pleased with their technical skill, creative thinking and hard work. If you need to prototype a complex technical idea, they are a great partner to work with.
We had the pleasure of doing business with COLETEK who provided us with service work. Their level of service and the quality of their work is exceptional. They communicated with us through the entire process to let us know when the work would be completed. We are very happy to have worked with them.
Great delivery, and great relationship orientated services.
We met with Luke Cole from COLETEK and very quickly realised that he was very knowledgeable in robotics and prototyping. What separates his company from the rest, is that he had a unique value proposition - COLETEK offers a tele-operated / robotic unit for rent and with the flexibility to be modified to build proof-of-concepts. That unit lowered both the cost and time for us to produce a video showing a very challenging concept. In general COLETEK's service was great value. We would recommend them - they will get it done.
COLETEK have been absolutely fantastic in their support and manufacture of various components for us. Our designs are always bespoke, intricate and low volume and it’s great to have an Australian company like COLETEK as a trusted and quality manufacturer for our spacecraft mechanical components and assemblies – which have been flight proven through successful mission operations. Keep up the great work!
